Amplifying Latino and Hispanic Voices
Los jóvenes necesitan verse a sí mismos y sus vidas reflejados en los textos que leen. Nuestra iniciativa Nuestras Voces involucra a los estudiantes con libros bilingües en español e inglés, traemos a escritores quienes se identifican como Latino a las aulas y más. La programación bilingüe que ofrecemos a través de Nuestras Voces es un pilar de lo que hacemos y representa el 20% de nuestra programación educativa general.
Young people need to see themselves and their lives reflected in the texts they read. Our Nuestras Voces initiative engages students with bilingual Spanish/English books, brings Latino- and Hispanic-identified writers into classrooms, and more. The bilingual programming we provide through Nuestras Voces is a cornerstone of what we do, representing 20% of our overall education programming.
Sobre Nuestras Voces
Creemos que los estudiantes se benefician más cuando están entusiasmados con lo que están leyendo. Nuestras Voces trae versiones centradas a Latino e hispanos de nuestros programas educativos a los estudiantes de las escuelas con las que trabajamos. A través de esta iniciativa, hemos podido comenzar a abordar los desafíos de diversos sistemas que enfrentan los estudiantes identificados Latino e hispanos y los estudiantes aprendiendo el idioma inglés.
About Nuestras Voces
We believe that students benefit most when they’re excited about what they’re reading. Nuestras Voces brings Latino- and Hispanic-centric versions of our education programs to students in the schools we work with. Through this initiative, we have been able to start addressing systemic diversity challenges facing Latino- and Hispanic-identified students and English Language Learners.
