Jabari Asim is the author of 13 books for children and 8 books for adults. They include We Can’t Breathe: On Black Lives, White Lies and the Art of Survival; and two novels, Yonder and Only the Strong. He is a Guggenheim Fellow whose work has been included in Best American Essays and Best American Poetry. A longtime journalist, he is the former deputy editor of Washington Post Book World and editor-in-chief of the NAACP’s Crisis magazine. He is a Professor at Emerson College, where he directs the MFA Program in Creative Writing.
