According to family lore, Linette S. Hwu (s/her/s) started reading before the age of two. Whether or not that is true, she has been reading for as long as she can remember, and one of her current favorite activities is sitting side-by-side with her nephew while they both read.
When she’s not reading for fun, Linette is the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer at The Nature Conservancy, where she is proud to contribute to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends, and a student and RYT 200-certified teacher of Yoga. Prior to TNC, she worked for 20 years as in-house counsel in the media industry. She was on the board of Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company for 18 years, including serving as Board President from 2016 to 2021, during which period she oversaw its historic leadership transition from Co-Founder and Artistic Director Howard Shalwitz to Artistic Director Maria Manuela Goyanes. She is also on the board of Strength in Numbers DC and Awakening Yoga Spaces.
Linette graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University with a B.A. in History and German Studies; she received her J.D. with honors from The University of Chicago Law School; and she has done executive education programs at Boston University School of Management, London Business School, Center for Creative Leadership and Cambridge Judge Business School.
